Hi. I am new to letterboxing and am working on finding a carving
material and tools. After broswing the web I came up with a few
options and I don't know which would work best. There is something
called "Speedy Cut Blocks"
and something else called "Mounted Linoleum Blocks"
(http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/1880-AA.shtml). Which is less
crumbly, easier to carve, and stands up to extreme temperatures?
Thanks for any input you may have. :)

honestly, I don't think you will be happy with either of these. Speedy
stamp is garbage-don't even buy it. It crumbles like nothing else. Speedy
stamp, from the same company (Speedball) is a better choice. That's what
people on the list call "the pink stuff." Even better than those are
anything larger you can find from Staedler Mars-Their regular erasers are
pretty small and you have to get the logo or raised section off, or you can
use PZ Cut from www.stampeaz.com. good stuff.
As for the linoleum blocks, I've been told they carve well, but that they
don't ink well, so transferring images can be tricky.
